Thanks for all the good info guys.  Not to worry, I am extremly risk averse 
to getting killed so no changes until I get the definitive word.  So far, 
mineral based fluids are off the list because of high viscosity and low 
boiling points.  I did come up with this site that seems to give the first 
and last word on practical tips for brake fluid performance.  He even goes 
back to the DOT regs for completeness.  Have a look and tell me what you
