Chet,
My mechanic showed me where it started leaking and that happen on both side of the tranny.
If I remember at three different spots. I think I will let him replace all the outside connection gaskets.
Those are the only leaks I have with the 560 SEC.

Ronny,

I'm not sure how the 560 & 300 dipstick tubes compare as to straightness, which would effect the sliding of the d/s in and out. But, I know on my 560, I have to rotate the d/s as I start to push the d/s in to make sure the flat side of the d/s is able to easily bend with the bends in the tube. And even is doing that, I can't say that it 'easily' slips in. It always drags against the inside of the tube. But, if yours is exceptionally difficult to insert, maybe there's a kink or dent in the tube. Using a flashlight, check the outside of the tube looking for any abnormal damage.

Also, I assume you do have the proper MB d/s for your 560.

When I bought my 560, it had a tranny leak and it turned out being the secondary pump o-ring, locate on the right rear side. It was a relatively easy fix and didn't require dropping the tranny. Have you already determined exactly from where the leak is coming?

Chet

Chet,

I measured this morning the oil level of the 560 SEC tranny and had no oil indication. Then I remember your email that I still have.

I have also a 1984 300SD and took out the dip stick from that car. I put the two sticks beside each other and the SEC stick had broken at the max line.

And the broken part must be somewhere in the tranny pan, I guess.

I also notice that the dip stick slides easy into tube holder of the 300 SD, and it is very difficult to get that same stick into the tube holder of the SEC.

That means I have to replace also the holder of the stick.

I already want the tranny to be lowered, because the outside sealed connections are starting to leak and need to be replaced.
