[W126 Coupe] Dip stick

The piece of the dipstick that falls into the tranny pan is of no concern.
It's too big to fit into anything and there are no moving parts under there.
The tranny pump has a filter over the suction line in the pan, the pieces
won't fit in it. As strange as it sounds, ignore it.

Chet,
I measured this morning the oil level of the 560 SEC tranny and had no oil
indication. Then I remember your email that I still have.
I have also a 1984 300SD and took out the dip stick from that car. I put the
two sticks beside each other and the SEC stick had broken at the max line.
And the broken part must be somewhere in the tranny pan, I guess.
I also notice that the dip stick slides easy into tube holder of the 300 SD,
and it is very difficult to get that same stick into the tube holder of the
SEC.
That means I have to replace also the holder of the stick.
I already want the tranny to be lowered, because the outside sealed
connections are starting to leak and need to be replaced.

In that case, what is the actual length of the tranny dip stick AND are they
all the same length??? There are enough pick-your-part yards with bad 560
engines that someone could possibly grab one for Ronnie. What year???

I can't help wondering how those lines could have worn off. They are
scribed into the metal and that would mean something had to wear that metal
down to erase those lines.. Which then leads me to ask where did those
metal filings go? In the tranny?
Unless the end of the dipstick broke off at the MAX line.. Does the end of
the d/s still have the curled end? If not where's the broken end?

The tranny dipstick of my 560 SEC does not show the min. and max. line
anymore.
Anny advice buying a new one?
