Dan

Does your car have two or four wheel SLS? I have a 450SEL 6.9 which has the
same setup as the four wheel SLS cars and a 560SEL which has the rear wheel
only set up.

Replacement on the rear wheel only setup is pretty straight forward. The
sphere it self is held in place with three nuts and there are two hydralic
lines that go into it. Open the lines slowly and have a drain pan handy as
the system is pressurized and will leak a lot. Once the leaking stops then
slowly remove the hydralic lines and pull the spheres.

Upon replacement, be very careful not to cross thread the hydralic lines.
I've done that a couple of times on my 450SEL 6.9's because they are a
little more awkward to get to and you end up trashing the sphere and the
hydraulic line (which I replaced with a metric brake line) which is a waste
of money. I would hand tighten it and make sure it goes well into the thread
before I would put a wrench on it.

I'm not sure how to bleed the system on the rear SLS cars but on the 6.9 and
4 wheel SLS car you jack the car on all fours an run at 2000rpm for a couple
of mins. I jacked the rear on my 560SEL and followed the same procedure
which seemed to have worked.

On the 4 wheel SLS cars, you have 5 spheres and they are a little more
awkward to get to. But the setup on the spheres is the same. Just be careful
not to cross thread.

All the best

Al
