[W126 Coupe] Regarding emission equipment on engines..

Hearing Jonathan talk about the emissions warranty on the new engines 
reminded me of a question for you all.

While I was working on tearing down and assessing the condition of the 
replacement 5L m117 engine for my car, I noticed that it was missing a 
number of air injection lines.
I'm not sure just what all is missing, as I haven't compared in detail 
yet, but the biggest difference, and the one I first noticed, was that 
it doesn't have the air pump feeding the exhaust, or the air lines and 
injector bushings with air passages in them.

Does this make any real difference to these engines?  I'm thinking that 
I may just simplify my engine bay and leave all the apparently optional 
stuff out when I put the engine back together.
