[W126 Coupe] Transmission Problem??

My 88 560 SEC runs great but has one problem.  When I "floor" the car  to 
pass while driving at highway speed, it shutters and jerks...when I slow down  
everything returns to normal.  If I speed up slowly to this same passing  speed, 
everything is fine.  Is this an internal transmission problem or  could it be 
something else???
