[W126 Coupe] Window switch on console

It is much easier to do than to explain, so don't let this long-
winded write-up slow you down...

The entire wood surround is held in place only by small clips on the
underside; they could easily break, so I'd be more comfortable doing
it myself than to have some kid at a shop doing it.

1. Open the ashtray drawer and remove the ashtray.
2. With the ashtray drawer open, you can see two small Phillips head
screws in a metal bracket holding the ashtray assembly down to the
console frame. Remove them and the entire assy pulls out quite
easily. (If you drop those screws they are very hard to find.)
3. Now the coin tray between the ashtray assy and the wooden console
surround comes out by just pulling it (slightly forward, up and out.)
4. Now place your open hand flat on the wooden surround and slide
forward just a bit (~1/8"?), and it will release from its clips.

On some years, the bright metal/rubber "gasket" around the shifter
opening is a part of the wood, and on others it is not. Mine was an
'86, which was a transition year, so I can never remember which is
which, but you should be able to figure this out while doing this.
Sometimes it's easier with the shifter in N than P.

Once the wood piece has been slid forward and released, it will just
pop up a bit due to the wiring underneath; you will be able to gently
flip it over enough to examine its underside without disconnecting
any of the wiring.
