Thanks, this car was _gold plated _by the dealer and it's a smoke silver
so the gold works pretty well. I agree it is a little over the top and
flashy. The car also has the chrome slabs under the door belt moldings,
the fender flair chromes, chrome wheels with the 420 lug nut covers with
gold MB circle and stars as well as chrome strips on the grill, clear
front parking lenses and the rear light panel has the red reflector
across the back. Needles to say the car is "pimped out" !
It was purchased as I describe from the original owner with 71K. He is
84 years old and the car was hie retirement gift to himself in 1989.
This car was, (and is) as near a perfect used car that you could find
and based on what I see on e bay I paid about 1/3 of the value. I own
several old cars, German, English, American Muscle and American classic
and vintage. Each came to me with a personality and no, I would not have
done all of the things to this car that he did but in the early '90's
the Cadillacs, the Lincolns all had this kind of trim if you recall so
it doesn't bother me too much and frankly when parked next to any other
coupe other than black, it is stunning in spite of all of the add on
stuff. So, sticking with my feeling that cars have personalties, I'll
leave it like it is for the time being. I appreciate your comments.
Doug
