Questions about 2003 S500they're nice cars, with a lot to break over time. Reliability is so-so...the major systems are ok, but lots of little electrical problems.

4matic is strongly recommended for colorado snow areas....even with ESP and traction control, it's still a rear wheel drive car. Of course four good winter tires will be mandatory as well.

Keep in mind the 4matic system is not true AWD, so it will not perform like an Audi in bad weather.

I would STRONGLY recommend he get an extended warranty that covers all the major and minor systems.....it'll pay off in the long run. I sell them, but this is not a sales pitch, just a recommendation from having customers that have these cars and thank god they have the warranty!

What do you all think of the 2003 S500? Are they reliable? Thinks to look out for? Do you think a like new S500 purchased today, with proper maintenance, would last another 10 years before becoming too expensive to own? I have a friend who is looking at one. He'll be living in Colorado (Denver area I think), assuming he uses snow tires will it be fine in the snow, or should he look for a 4-matic? How is the 4-matic system? How much of a trade off on performance is it?

  Thanks,
  Richard
