[W126 Coupe] something strange happened (500 SEC help)

Hi John:

In a word:  ALTERNATOR.  You could try just replacing the voltage 
regulator and carbon brushes on the alternator ($20) before having the 
alternator re-built.  I would not drive the car until you fix the 
alternator.  A tow truck will be needed once the battery reserve gives out.
