[W126 Coupe] something strange happened (500 SEC help)

Hey John:
Reading further into this email of yours...are you saying the wheel 
locked as in the ignition lock locked the wheel or that the steering 
became difficult because you lost power steering???  If in fact the 
ignition locked up the wheel you definitely have an odd problem in the 
ignition tumbler itself potentially.  Do you have trouble with the key 
in any way?  Do you have a lot of weight on the key (hanging other keys 
on a chain for example).

Or if you just lost power steering but, were still able to turn the 
wheel to navigate to the side of the road, I'd still check your battery 
voltage (resting) and again when the engine is running to see if the 
alternator is providing a charge.

When did the funny noise start before or after you worked on the brakes?

How many miles on the SEC and what year is it?

You may have one or more gremlins there to sort out.
