[W126 Coupe] speaking of AC problems...

You said the magic words Richard. I'd start by checking the vacuum
elements. You say your fresh air elements (2) are working properly,
that's fine. But, if you have the defrost flap open that will be a
leaky rubber diaphragm and an easy fix. Mine as well check each all of
the others and then order the repair kit from George Murphy. It's
something like $45 for everything you need to repair those leaky
elements. And yes I screwed up on the previous post re: the rear center
vent which is COOLED in the summer.
So, that's first step and your ACC may be just fine once you check and
fix the diaphragms as needed.

I wonder why my center rear doesn't blow AC air and why my AC blows out the defrost vents instead of the center front vents even though the vacuum switches behind the glovebox (btw Dick, I'm not saying all the vacuum switches are good, just the ones directly behind the glovebox. All the other ones I'm just guessing on). Perhaps this is all one pushbutton unit problem i.e. the AC turns on but there is some solder joint that is supposed to tell the vents what to do that isn't working? Time to start flexing the pushbutton unit. Argh...sometimes I wish I could just say "I'm not coming in to work today, I have to fix my car's ventilation system."
