[W126 Coupe] First Gear Start Kit

Hi Tim,

When I put the transmission "mode" switch, next to the gear selection
lever, into "S" (versus "E" for "Economy") my car
*always* starts in first gear when I want it to. I simply have to
press down on the accelerator all the way - if your car does
not exhibit this behaviour, is there not perhaps a problem with it?

P.S> I can't remember from your previous posts if you have a European
or U.S. spec model, so I am not sure what the
differences may be in this regard, but I find myself almost always
driving my 560 Euro in "E" ("Economy, Relaxed") mode
because it's so eager to shift back to, or start, in first, and this
is blindingly rapid, so I really only want that sort of pace
when I need to get out of a situation quick, or teach a cocky person
in a new Golf GTI a lesson. Even when in "E",
if I press the accelerator down enough to activate the kickback
switch, it also happily starts in first.

So, maybe before trying to modify or kit your car, try to find out if
something's not wrong, first.

Just my 2c
Dawid
