Another issue to think of is if you don't call your insurance company, and it gets weird later when all the bills come in and he doesn't want to pay them all, what then? You'll have to go the legal route then as the insurance company will wonder why you waited so long to contact them. Here's what I would do if it was me: 1) call your doctors tomorrow and get appt asap for all 3 of you - even if you feel well. Then you can prove you were proactive.2) get an estimate from the shop YOU want it fixed at ASAP3) get that estimate to the guy ASAP and see how he reacts. Make sure he knows it is only an estimate since they always find stuff when actually doing the work, and it doesn't include any medical treatment. If he agrees, get it in writing, and have it notarized!4) call your insurance company tomorrow anyhow - at least to notify them what happened, that he wants to deal with it, but you wanted them to know now so that if you need them, you could go that route. See what
they suggest. Maybe they are one of the "good ones" (is there such a thing with insurance companies?!) and just take care of you and chase him down themselves if need be. That way you covered all your basis and can't get accused of something later should things so sour. Murphy's Law you know - you do all this and he'll just pay you and not give you any hassle. Forget some steps and it will get ugly. That damned Murphy...! Best of luck. I wish I knew some shops in your area to recommend but I can't say that I do. You probably don't want to drive to Michigan but there is certainly a great shop there I can highly recommend that will make sure it's done right....and send you on your way with an engine swap to boot! person. Here's some "legal" info to consider:Right now, the guy says he'll take care of everything. That may not be so 6 months from now when the numbers are in. If your daughter feels "OK" tomorrow, but not next week and then gets worse, and if you need the legal system to help you straighten it out, the bad guy's insurance company lawyers will say: "Well, I see you didn't even bother going to a doctor for weeks..."So, no matter how your daughter feels tomorrow...call your specialist and get some advice tomorrow, which may include at least a look.PaulOn Jan 23, 2006, at 3:21 PM, Dick Spellman wrote:> Hi Paul:>> That's good advice.
