[W126 Coupe] Underside of MB hood clearcoat or not??

I believe it is only colore matched primer. But,
on my '89 we painted the underside of the hood
exactly the same way as the top. It will probably
stand-up to moisture, dirt and chemicals better.
One other thought Dick. Instead of gluing the pad
try to use 'pad gromets' (I may not have the correct
name) available in almost any car parts place. They
have a very wide top, designed to hold the pad
withpout saging. The hood braces already have numerous
holes in them and the sides can be tucked into the
support braces. Just an idea.
