OK, This might sound stupid that I have not noticed it before, but today  I connected the battery to the car (through the meter). 

Initially for anything between around 5 to 15 secs, the current draw peaked up to the 6amps mentioned previously on initial contact. Having the meter connected without doing anything, the hazard warning lights came on (and off) while the six amps draw was taking place for the time mentioned. Leaving the connection as is, the current draw of 6amps takes place at random. As the draw takes place, the hazard warning lights (i.e..all 4 indicators) are working. but only for the same time as the actual current draw. Then the current draw from the battery goes to a standard specified figure of around between 85ma and 90ma. Of course at the same time the hazard warning lights stop. Then leaving all connections as is, the same 6amps peak (along with the hazards flashing) takes place at random (anything between a few minutes to a case of hours in between).

My question is, can the indicator flasher unit itself be the problem? or does it look more like the alarm/ immobiliser system that is at fault? I personally would suspect the latter.
Any ideas or comments are welcomed.
