[W126 Coupe] Off Topic: Recently purchased W201 190E 2.6 1990

Questions for any 190E experts. The transmission in these vehicles seems similar to my 560 W126's in that they are a 4 speed auto that have a selector that shows from 2 to D. My question is alike my 126 are they supposed to start in 2nd? The 1990 190E 2.6 starts always in first whether I stomp on it or creep away.
What I don't like is that it upshifts from first to second at about 20-30 kph. When you are turning a corner it kind of jumps into second, and if you punch it, it breaks the tires free and wants to go sideways. What is normal?
Second question: has anyone done a speed versus RPM?
Here are some of mine. p185 r65 tires
80 kph= 2000 rpm
100 = 2550
120 = 3100
140 = 3600
These were taken on a fairly flat road at a constant speed. The reason I'm asking this is that at 100kph it FEELS like the car is going slower??
