A thank you to the folks who helped me with making the fix to my passenger seat control on the 83 SEC.
I was able to take the harness with soldered pins fitted to existing plugs ((2) from a 90 300SE and fit directly to an 86 seat switch controller (with headrest button removed and no memory) for the 83 SEC passenger door. All wire colors match up but, the 83 harness had two extra leads that were not a part of the 90 plug harness. These two leads (red & red-white)represented 12VDC+ and were simply soldered using MB open pins (126 988 00 78) and then placed inside the 90 plug in correct position. One each to power seat back motor and the other seat bottom motor. Both are fused at 20 amps each.
Cost with spare parts $0, time about the same if you were to purchase the new seat switch control plus the required harness kit. Savings $150+.
