[W126 Coupe] SEC mod's

A few questions on subtle changes to the SEC.

a.. Has anyone fitted a MB rocker switch to the plastic headlamp switch bezel or to the wood on the center console? If so, how did you manage the cut-out without damage to wood laminate or plastic bezel outside of the cut-out area? Did you drill a pilot hole and use a jig saw or a router bit to make the precision cut?

a.. Has anyone entertained creating an access door on the top of the blower housing outside air intake. The glove box (assumes no passenger air bag) is removed easily to gain access to the side wall of the blower housing just above the blower motor. This sidewall area is then cut-out and a tray is glued in place to support an air filter element. The element can be cut to fit from any standard furnace filter and would simply slide in place. Some means of securing the former sidewall cut-out back in place is needed and could either be hinged or just press fit in place and held with a clip or two so as to be air tight. This idea is modeled after the current placement and R&R of later model MB's with charcoal and fiber air filters. Any thoughts as to the viability or ideas on how to do it better or not at all are appreciated.
Regards,

Dick
