[W126 Coupe] FACTORY ALARM COMING ON AND STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING.

Heh, I was wondering what that cable to nothing in my trunk was for (saw
it when I replaced the antenna). I guess in my case it was more than
just that, because there must have been a reason that was disconnected
and then my main alarm was disconnected (this was about 11 years ago). I
think the fact that it is so easy to disable the whole alarm shows just
how worthless non-immobilizer alarms are, thus why bother caring if you
disconnected the whole thing? These alarms do nothing other than keep
the honest man honest, better off going aftermarket if you care for an
alarm.

Bruce, if this is your '84 500SEC then it *could* be the tow-away
sensor of the Alarm system. In the early alarm systems (prior to car
chassis end number A273146), there was included an anti-tow-away
sensor, (on the W126, you can reach and disable it behind the trunk
lining, upper left forward corner. It is component N27). This sensor
was problematic, often giving false alarms. You can just unplug the
N27, and this might solve your problem, leaving the alarm system
otherwise intact.
