[W126 Coupe] AC Compressor, heating

well the compressor under normal circumstances is not used /needed during the 
winter cold  how ever the comp can be used when its raining  and condensation 
forms in side the car the compressor is useful because it also dehumidifies 
the cars air 
 if you want to remove the compressor at least cover the lines going to and 
out of the compressor  it will save you a big headache if you go to repair the 
system 
 oh yeah guess what the compressor on my car is a GM GENERAL MOTORS unit it 
was marked ac delco and was bought form pep boys for 85.00 it was listed for a 
great many 1967 to1983 GM trucks and cars ....
 So your compressor most likely can be identified and purchased cheaply 
....Food for thought!!!
