[W126 Coupe] AC Compressor, heating

James,

I'm not positive, but I believe in defrost mode (at least on my 87 SEC) I have no control over the temperature or speed of the fan, it seems to come out full blast high heat. I think somehow the system must sense excess humidity and find a way to kick in the compressor to take some of that moisture out of the air in the cabin while still defrosting your windows. Maybe the system is smart enough to regulate what temp things are moving at and when to cycle the compressor on and off.

Otherwise, in my car again I have climate control, not heat and a/c. So somehow the compressor must be sent a signal to kick on at certain points to cool the car versus stay off to the car can be heated. There must be a temp sensor or something that causes this to happen where it senses when to leave the compressor off and when to turn it on.

Maybe somebody with better technical knowledge and less guessing can help clear this up!

Markus
