Iain,
A pair of the small Mustang 5.0L cats will do just fine. One in each
tailpipe in the location of the original MB cat, one in front of the other
so they reside in the tunnel under there.

Mine is gone and the precat is cleaned out, no resonators either. twin
pipes all the way back to a stock mb muffler. sounds good.

PS When car gets out of hibernation, I will be installing 2 small cats,
or 1 twin pipe cat, don't know what ones yet. There are several free flow
universal fits on the market. I have heard something about a Chrysler cat
that works very good, but don't have any details.

well if you remove the cats the cars" zoom factor "will be noticeable
because there is less restriction in the exhaust stream there will be a
chance for the engine to breath better
there probably will be a difference in the smell of the exhaust
especially on heavy acceleration but this will only be a problem for the
BMW drivers behind you
oh yeah you have to get a state inspection mechanic to pass your car
if your state has this because its is illegal to do this to your car
oh what the hell do it .......
