Figment,
The exact part number replacement of the ignition module is not necessary.
The 126 with electronic ignition went through 3 revisions of the module that
I know of. Some of the modules were produced by bosch and some were made by
siemens.
I would try to stick to a 420 module or a 560 module.
When you replace the module, make sure to coat the back of it with heat
transfer grease. (heat sink compound)
The ignition module uses the wheel well as a heat sink so there has to be
good contact.
You can get a tube of the heat transfer grease at Radio Shack for about 3.00
dollars.

Hi all,

Okay, I'm not playing the game of swapping out parts from different series
SEC's. You got me clearly convinced, actually for everything but the
ignition control module part, at least. However, I'll bet these are not the
same either between the 380, 420?, 500, 560 series, but may be someone else
here knows, for sure.

So, I'm placing my money on the ignition control module and switching unit,
MBZ part number 0025452632.
Someone mentioned these part numbers last week. I'm betting that moisture
got into this unit or, most likely, that I simply burned it out trying to
start my SEC on Friday the 13th (last week) after a massive downpour.

Check out these pix, enclosed.

SO, the big question for me is whether anyone here has had any luck trying
to fix one of these before. I need to replace OpAmp Number 1, which smells
like burnt toast mixed with gasoline and engine exhaust fumes.....mmmmm,
yummy...kinda like the fresh smell of napalm in the morning...or better yet,
bad coffee!!!!

Please help. I can do the work, if someone can help me find the big cheese
(electronic op amps).

The first, and obvious, answer is that you need to have the wheels that
please *you*--not wheels that please anyone else.

The direct answer to your question, from my perspective, is:

Neither. The car needs 17" wheels for best look and handling. I have
18" and some may prefer the look, but it's only slightly more
aggressive looking, while sacrificing a little more ride and wheel
protection.

Meanwhile, as between the two sets of 15s, IMO, you should stay as
close to stock as possible if you're not going to 17s. The
Lorinzer-types in photo "B" look *very* dated. They remind me of a
kitchen that was remodeled 10 or 15 years ago...very dated now, and not
as nice as original in good condition.

But, referring you back to my first comment above, my opinion counts
for nothin' w/regards to how it looks. I do recommend strongly,
though, that you drive one with 17 wheels before spending any money, so
you can feel the handling improvement.

I think wheel 'A' is more appropriate for the car.

But, I think your bumpers are too big ;-)

Daryl.

US 560 parts car.

I like B as I have chromed Centra wheels ( made in Germany ), which I
understand were a factory option, on my '91 SEC.
