Doc, I can think of several possibilities:

1) If your response also quoted back the entire digest, it may have been 
rejected by the server.

2) With all the traffic these days from the latest round of viruses, it 
may have been delayed getting from your server to the list server.

3) Similarly due to the traffic, it may be in a queue at the list server 
waiting to be virus-scanned.

4) The phase of the moon was wrong.

If you really want to know what happened, it would help the list 
administrator if you provided him with the exact subject line from the 
message and the time and date you sent it.
