Bob,

Most 4x5 shooters develop their own film using various type systems. A lot
of people have (what I use) a Phototherm sidekick - like this one on eBay
now -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3000113610&category=29993
 - but bide your time if interested in this - I've seen then go cheaper than
this but I confess I paid more for mine. If you need to send it out there
are labs in all major cities that service professional photographers that
could develop them for you. The processes are tank systems like the
Phototherms with a Wing Lynch model being the best -- I think this process
gives you the best negatives. The other two method are "dip and dunk" and
roller transport. Be careful of those that use roller transports -- they
can leave roller marks if their machinery is not set up right or is dirty.
The dip and dunk system can leave streaks and if they are not careful they
can ruin an important part of the negative if you are cropped tightly in
your shooting,

So it was you that I was bidding against?? I bought a lot of equipment on
eBay -- 2 - 4 x 5 cameras, a zone VI and a Wisner - plus 2 8 x 10 field
cameras - an old Kodak and a Zone VI - also 2 D5XL enlargers, two Kreonite
processors - a ton of lens (enlarger and shooting) plus countless other
stuff. I only stopped when I ran out of money - now I need to start
selling.

I've been shooting large format about 3 years after 35 years shooting only
35mm. For years I shot 35mm using 25ASA film and shooting with a sandbag
over my camera to reduce vibration from mirror flop to get a perfect
negative that could be enlarged up to 30x. If I enlarged my 4x5 negative as
much as I have the 35mm it would be a 10 ft. x 12 ft print -- the 8x10 would
be 20 ft x 24 ft - hmm that would be hard to develop.

Hi Clive
I live in norhteast Iowa in the USA and just started photography 18
months ago. Since I do websites I am on the internet constantly and have
bought some cameras on ebay, a couple of which I haven't used yet. This
leads me up to a question I have.
Where do people send their large format color film to be developed. I
would like to start using the graphic camera and the toyo I have but
don't know what to do with it once I have taken photos. Once I know for
sure what I am going to do with it I would like to try taking large
format photography.
Thanks a lot
