Reading does refresh what the aged mind has lost . . . .

Almost sounds as if we're talking Dickie Avedon in his weaker moments.  I do
share your concerns as to what does pass for "art" these days.  But I must
also express my own concern for elderly uncles who find the time to read
such books!
