Because of the bioterrorist fear,
I'll not send a card this year.

But to all my friends who are still living,
In this season of good-will-giving,

I wish wholehearty, fruitful cheer
With friends, family, food e're near,

And especially when by yourself
Your fullness , your truest wealth

Runs fenceless, timeless, here.


And for the New Year, '02,
I hope that each one of you

Can pay your bills, get your thrills,
Glide through valleys, span the hills,

Learn something new in the skin of old,
And teach something old, in colors bold

So that time unfolds with grace,
Every face in a place

And in that space a clue.
