And here are the solutions for the retro problems in H240.

14314 - Beluhov
1. Qb1xBa2 h5-h6 2. Sc3-d1 Bb3-a2 3. Sa2-c3 h4-h5 4. Rc3-c2 Bd1-b3 5. Rc2-c3
Bh5-d1 6. f5-f4 Be8-h5 7. f6-f5 e7-e8=B 8. f7-f6 f6xSe7 9. Sf5-e7 h3-h4 10.
Sd4-f5 h2-h3 11. Sb3-d4 f5-f6 12. Rc3-c2 f4-f5 13. Qc2-d1 f3-f4 14. Rb1-a2
f2-f3 15. Sb4-a2 Ka2-a3 16. Sd5-b4 Ka3-a2 17. S~-d5 Ka2-a3 18. Kb4-a5 Sc5-a6 etc.

14315 - J. Crusats, A. Frolkin
Try: -1. Kf6-f5? Se7-g8 -2 . Kg7-f6 and 1. Bd7#, but this fails on the forward
defense -1... Se7-g8 and 1...OO!#
-1. g2xBh3 g4-g3 -2. Ra2xBc2! Now black can't uncapture anything, because the
pawn structure and promoted bishop need 5 captures. -2... Bd1-c2 -3. Bc3xRa5!
Ra4-a5 -4. Ke4-f5 Ra5-a4 -5. Kd5-e4 Ra4-a5 -6. Kc4-d5 Ra5-a4 -7. Kb5-c4 Ra4-a5
-8. Kb4-b5 Ra5-a4 -9. Rd2xSa2 Sc1-a2 [Because of this move, the white bishop
had to come from c3 on the 3rd move] -10. Kb5-b4 Ra4-a5 -11. Kc4-b5 Ra5-a4 -12.
c2xQb3 Qb2-b3 -13. Kd5-c4 Ra4-a5 -14. Ke4-d5 Ra5-a4 -15. Kf5-e4 Ra4-a5 -16.
Kf6-f5 [and because of the forward defense Qb2xc3#, the white rook had to go to
d2 on the 9th move. Because there are 16 black pieces on the board, the white
e-pawn had to promote on e8, so no forward defense OO now!] Se7-g8 -17. Kg7-f6
& 1. Bd7#
Further tries: -9. Rc2xSa2 ... -14. Rd2xQc2 Sd3-c1 -15. Kf5-e4 Ra4-a5 -16.
Kf6-f5 Se7-g8 & 1. Qc3#.
-9. Rc2xSa2 ... -15. Rd2xQc2 Sd3-c1 & 1. Rf4#!

14316 - Dietrich
1. c4 d5 2. c5 Nd7 3. c6 Nb6 4. cxb7 Qd7 5. b8=N Ba6 6. Nxd7 O-O-O 7. Nxf8 Rd6
8. Ne6 Rc6 9. Nd4 Rxc1 10. Nc2 Rxd1+ 11. Kxd1 g6 12. Ke1

14317 - Gräfrath
1. c4 g6 2. c5 Bg7 3. c6 Bxb2 4. cxb7 Bxa1 5. bxa8=N c5 6. Na3 Nc6 7. Nc4 Bb7
8. Ncb6 Qxa8 9. Nxa8 Bxa8

14318 - Raican, Crisan, Murarasu
1. h3 Nf6 2. h4 Nh5 3. f3 Nf4 4. c3 Ne6 5. c4 Nc5 6. a3 Nb3 7. a4 Na5 8. e3
Nac6 9. e4 Ne5 10. g3 Ng4 11. b3 Ne3 12. b4 Ng2+ 13. Bxg2 d6 14. Bh3 d5 15.
Bd7+ Nxd7 16. d3 Nc5 17. d4 Ne6 18. g4 Ng5 19. f4 Nf3+ 20. Nxf3 g6 21. Ng5 c6
22. Ne6 c5 23. Nc7+ Kd7 24. Nxa8 Ke8 25. Nb6 f6 26. Nd7 f5 27. Nf6+ Kf7 28. Nd7
Ke8 29. Ne5 e6 30. Nd7 e5 31. Nf6+ Kf7 32. Nd7 Kg7 33. Nxf8 Kh6 34. Ne6 g5

14319 - Raican
-1. d4xRc5[-bBh8;+bRh8]! (now white is in check because d4 is attacked by Bh8!)
Re5-c5 -2. Ke2-d2 (again check because of Bg6xPe4/Re5xPe4) Rf5-e5 -3. Kd2-e2
Re5-f5 -4. Ke2-d2 Rf5-e5 -5. Kd2-e2 Rf6-f5 (Re5-f5?? illegal) -6. c2-c4 Ra~-a4
-7. h4xBg5[-bBf8;+bBf8] Se3xc2[-bSc2;+wPc2]! -8. Qe7xBf8[-wQf8;+bBf8] & 1. h5#
(Kc8 is in check because Bg6 is attacked, and b8 isn't a flightsquare because
of Kd2xSe3)

14320 - Weeth, Wenda
-1. Kf2xBf1[Ke1]! Sd8-b7 -2. Ke2-f2 f2-f1=B -3. Kf1-e2 g3-g2 -4. e5xRf6[Pf2=b]
Qf2-c5 -5. Qg2-f2[=b] Bf2-a7 -6. Bc5-f2[=b] Ra8-a6 -7. Qc6-g2 & 1. Bb4#

14321 - Grevlund
a) Tries:
+bKh5; bPg6 & 1. Rxd5# but 5 black pawns on white squares: illegal
+bKh1; bRg2 & 1. Rd1# but illegal: Bf1 was captured by a promoted black piece
(Ra8/Bc8/Sg8 all couldn't have reached f1, and Bf1 should be gone when the
black king enters the SE corner after g2xf3 Kg4-h3), but all pawns on white
squares are present in the diagram.
Solution: +bKh5; bRg6 & 1. Rxd5#
b) Now a black pawn can promote (d7-d5xPc4xPb3epxPa2xSb1=Rxf1), so the solution
is +bKh1; bRg2 & 1. Rd1#

14322 - Thoma
1. Rh1 Ka2 2. Qd1 Qb8[bQ->d8;+wSg1] 3. Kd8[wK->e1;+bQd8] Qc8[bQ->d8;+wBf1] 4.
Ba3 Qg8[bQ->d8;+wSb1] 5. Rxd8[wR->a1;+bQd8] Ka3[bK->e8;+wBc1]

14323 - Schwarzkopf
wKf7, wBg8, wBh6, wBh8, bKh7

14324 - Schwarzkopf
wKc5, wRa8, wBc8, wSb8, bKa6
