*This reminds me of an old chess puzzle (by Sam Lloyd). The puzzle was a
White to mate in One. The solution involved realizing that there were 9
white pawns, and which ever white pawn you removed, a mate was revealed.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Anyone have the exact puzzle [and the
reference]?*
