[W126 Coupe] Centre Console removal

Hi Folks
I have sent this e-mail before but I did  not see it in the postings so I am 
resending it.

    I have tried to remove the centre console to gain more access and also I
have a new burl wood auto shifter knob to fit.
The ashtray has been removed along with the ,radio/CD player and the screw 
in the rear of the
console but the two large rotary knobs are refusing to budge by hand
pulling,I even made plastic gripping jaws but no luck,if I remove the knobs 
and the nuts behind what else needs to be
unscrewed to remove the centre console?
