[W126 Coupe] hood latch question

i have a 91 560 sec, one of the hood latches is not grabbing.  i was at the junk yard the other day trying to remove the part that is screwed into the car body and i can't figure how to take the mechanism off to replace or clean.
 
is there a trick...seems to be a cable attached.
