I don't think that the mechanic is out of line here considering that it's
been two years since the part was installed. For a start, he did not make
the part, he just installed it and even the MB dealer only warranties parts
for 12 months.
In the last two years, anything could have happened to the radiator that
could have cased it to leak. If the radiator itself carries a 12 month
warranty then there is not a damn thing he can do make them give him
another one so all you'll be doing is making him eat the cost on a part
that he put in two years ago.
You can buy a quality replacement radiator for $150-$250 and is an easy
DIY. I'd personally take that option over burning a bridge with a mechanic
that you may someday need again.
