[W126 Coupe] engine codes dick spellman or anyone else

what does 12 flashes/blinks mean, when doing the diagnostic.  i pressed the button down for 4 seconds and it returned 12 blinks.  i did it again and no blinks.   then i started the car, turned it off, and did the test again and it returned 12 blinks.  thanks for the help
