[W126 Coupe] MBCOUPES Digest, Vol 87, Issue 8

In regards to the clunking noise my problem was the hydraulic rams. The ram wasn't leaking, but the lower ball joint was worn and moved in the socket. I have a long thread on benzworld about it. You can buy the ball joint separately for around $200. The rams are getting cheaper so it makes more sense to buy a new ram for $400. I replace mine and the clunk went away.

Best regards,
Mike
