[W126 Coupe] W126 Engine ideas

Here is a question I would like to start exploring the possibilities for.

I have the 5.6L US engine and tranny out of my destroyed '91 560SEC laying
around. When I pulled the engine, I pulled it as one piece, and have most all
electrical parts for it. I am looking to put it eventually in my "work in
progress" '85 500SEC.

Here are my thoughts/questions. I like the M117 engine and feel it is a strong
power plant, but as we all know the fuel injection is a bit archaic. I would
like to explore the options of taking the engine and putting on a "new"
aftermarket fuel injection and electronic system. Possibly incorporating an ECM
and fuel rails.

I know some out there will say just either stick to original, or go to an M119
engine in total. Some of this is because I have the powerplant, some of this is
because I want something unique, and some of it is because I want to see if it
can be done.

Question is, where to start looking? Is one major problem going to be
injectors? If I put in a complete unit I won't have to worry about integrating
into any of the existing electronics.

Hope that was murky enough for everybody!

David
