[W126 Coupe] AMG

Hi Bruce (and all),

Speaking of "the trans has been done ".  What does that mean?  

Also, if AMG had worked on the transmission of a SEC, would they have altered or removed the stamped transmission number from the case?.  Would there be any exterior indication that work had been done?

  I just got a super deal on an original AMG.  Its an '84 500SEL AMG, I need to find out what had been done to it.  It has a solid lifter cam 5.0 (unless bored that I am not aware of), headers that are welded directly to CATs to small AMG mufflers.  Complete ground effects, the trans has been done (I can tell by how it shifts), the suspenion is done (3" lower tan my stock 560SEL) orthopedic seats, clothe interior and signal red from the factory.

  How do I get information about this car.  Classic center says it was before Mercedes owned AMG so they can't help.  Is there a pre-buyout resource?  I appreciate any help.
