Unless the previous owner provided documentation, there is unfortunately no way to obtain any information on the AMG modifications to your car.
 
As you've already found out, the MB Classics Center can only provide you with information on how the car left the factory (date, model, equipment, options, destination, etc.).
 
MB's acquisition of AMG started in 1993 and was completed in 1999. Records and drawings from the pre-MB era are no longer available and the few parts that made their way into MB inventory are now NLA.
 
Enjoy you car, it sounds like a great find.

I just got a super deal on an original AMG.  Its an '84 500SEL AMG, I need to find out what had been done to it.  It has a solid lifter cam 5.0 (unless bored that I am not aware of), headers that are welded directly to CATs to small AMG mufflers.  Complete ground effects, the trans has been done (I can tell by how it shifts), the suspenion is done (3" lower tan my stock 560SEL) orthopedic seats, clothe interior and signal red from the factory.
 
How do I get information about this car.  Classic center says it was before Mercedes owned AMG so they can't help.  Is there a pre-buyout resource?  I appreciate any help.
