Yes, this is good advice.  

I have a #2 level 89 560SEC that had wonderful care it's entire existence in Southern California.  I'm keeping it original with the exception of some aftermarket rims.  I feel it would be a bad idea to do anything to ruin all the hard work that the two previous owners went through to keep the car pristine.
