I have enjoyed the discussion regarding your dilemma although I don't think
you're enjoying it very much as it all boils down to money. However, should
you decide to go with a re-built from the states I can at least put in a
plug for Metric Motors. Although an entirely different engine, I bought a
re-built for my '64 230 SL a couple of years ago and have been very pleased
with it.
Maybe Ernie has the right idea. Find a big block Chevy engine and put it
in. Who will know the difference except when you go to sell it.
