I have come to expect terrific advice from this experienced group, since I
have now stumped 3 mechanics, spent over $2500, and still no solution. My
1988 560 SEC used to have good A/C. It was changed a couple of years ago
from R12. The system lost pressure after a couple of months, and hasn't
acted right for the last 2 years. The initial problem was that the Cold air
would switch to heat for no apparent reason. It was suggested that a new
mono valve, which helped for a while. I think I recall that with the A/C
setting on high and the high speed fan switched on, it would go into max,
which it no longer does. I have put in a new controller and new compressor
with no real improvement. My fancy shop recommended that I replace the
evaporator for about $2500, but they didn't bother to mention Cryo-seal,
which I just put in for about $200 bucks. I want to replace the dash later,
so I was looking for a reasonable fix. The A/C now works, but is not cold,
unless I'm running at highway speeds. I'm told that it could take a week of
running for the Cryo-seal to get up to speed. I'm really baffled here team,
can anyone advise?

I took the car to one specialty A/C shop and the mechanic told be the
compressor was stuck-only problem was he was pointing to the pump!!!LOL
Also-Can you still buy rear wide body AMG style panels anywhere? How about
Rocarro seats?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

John
