if you got a needle nose vise grip then just put some fuel line hose over the jaws....works just fine

FYI, these pumps are prone to electrolysis and will develop holes in them. I repaired one a few years ago with epoxy, still going. I also installed a ground wire to the body as they are suspended in rubber.
