Thanks, Dick. The pump is split around about one third of the circumference
at the electrical connection end. It's up in the shop and I have left a
message for Jonathan.

I may just get the pump, etc. from Mercedes tomorrow.

I don't have the "proper"  clamp for the fuel line (I don't even know what
that is) and had planned to use vice grips and something between the jaws
and the hose-maybe a piece of wood ?
