Sounds like a good place to put audio equipment. The Japanese are big on sounds.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Mystery.

Un-identified cavity:
I was vacuuming the interior of my 1988 560SEC last Friday when I realized the presence of a cavity under the front passenger side floor mat.
Curiosity got the better of me and I lifted the mat to discover that a large piece of the moulded high density foam on the underside had been cut and peeled off leaving a large cavity between the heater channel and the outboard side panel. A wire with a round connector protruding from under the centre console was laying on the floor.
Is it possible that this cavity has been used for some kind of accessory which have since been removed or is it possible that this car was used for smuggling.
It was imported used from Japan.

Any ideas?
