Although he doesn't know it, Shin has talked me into keeping my inherited 1984 500 SEC. Thanks Shin! I'm now trying to get it back to optimal condition. A friend has driven the car and here's what he says I need:

- Fuel supply and return lines that go to and from the fuel distributor valve assembly. The fuel injection system requires a fuel supply line (from the fuel pump) and a fuel return line (back to the gas tank). This allows the system to run at a high pressure. When the demand for fuel is low (low acceleration), most of the fuel is just routed back to the gas tank. When the demand is high, the fuel distributor valve assembly routes fuel to the various fuel injectors, and less fuel is returned to the gas tank. Don't know how much these will cost, but I found something similar from Cohline for $35 each (don't know if they're the right parts, but I thought they would cost much more than that). Alternative is to go to Merc dealer and look through the parts catalog and identify the correct parts, buy them there. I can help you with that if you want.

- You don't need a throttle linkage. You need one of the bushings that goes on the throttle linkage. There could be a bushing kit available; it isn't a bad idea to replace all the bushings if that's the only way to get the part. I couldn't find it online. If you can't find it, I can easily make one for you. It would take about 30 minutes, so don't spend more than a few bucks on this part.

Is there anyone who has had these problems and can recommend a solutions.

Thanks.
