    I have another issue going on that is similar but it involves a spider web in-between the lens and the cluster; is it possible to remove the lens without pulling out the entire cluster so that I can dust and remove that annoying spider web?

  Once you get the cluster out, there are 4 main "pods".  The outside temp sensor sits at the bottom, that's one, rectangular.  There is the speedo unit in the middle, then the two other pods on either side of the speedo.  Each can come out on their own so you can get to the plastic lens if needed.
