Hi Sean,

Jonathan was referring to pre-soak of new fuel filter.  Pre-soaking 
prevents the paper element from being damaged when you first fire up the 
system to 5.4 bars upon energizing that fuel pump after a filter change.

  If car sat for 7 years, go get a can of BG-44K and run in a tank of 
gas.  This is approved and used by Mercedes.  You without a doubt have 
varnish on all the fuel system components.  The engine smooth revs 
without a load and idles smooth too?  No skip or miss?  Pretty lucky, 
I'd say.
