To be clear, I destroyed the unit in question. My car had 168K on it when I
bought it and it reads 186,256 right now. I did this in an attempt to show
that if you had to replace your unit, you could take one out of a JY unit,
"Adjust" the mileage to match what your car reads, and be good to go from
there.
I wrote SEVERAL disclaimers warning of the legalities of this..
I do not condone the setback of milage in any way to disguise a cars true
mileage and I was a licensed car salesman for over ten years and never did
anything like that...
These are DIY forums with the aim to save people money by not having to send
things out to expensive shops. That is why I posted it.
