Good question since I need to do that for the FrankenBenz. I was planning on just taping off the chrome but I have two broken grills upon which I can experiment if anyone has a suggestion on how to R&R the chrome.
I'm going to sand the plastic, apply a Bulldog Adhesion Promoter spray, then my standard Duplicolor primer, color, and clear. Since I had the FrankenBenz painted Chrysler PS2 Bright Silver instead of Mercedes 744 Bright Silver I have color matched spray cans purchased at Pep Boys!

Has anyone here painted their SEC grille? If so, did you remove the chrome and how did you do it? I got another grille and was thinking of painting it, but a cursory look didn't tell me how the chrome separates from the rest, and with the archives down, I can't search...
Thanks,
