Good question since I need to do that for the FrankenBenz. I was planning
on just taping off the chrome but I have two broken grills upon which I can
experiment if anyone has a suggestion on how to R&R the chrome.
I'm going to sand the plastic, apply a Bulldog Adhesion Promoter spray,
then my standard Duplicolor primer, color, and clear. Since I had the
FrankenBenz painted Chrysler PS2 Bright Silver instead of Mercedes 744 Bright
Silver I have color matched spray cans purchased at Pep Boys!

I was able to find in the local Pep Boys store some chrome-like body trim
with a mastic backing that I overlaid on the cracked and peeled chrome
pieces on my 560SEC grill. While the pieces were slightly wider than the
originals, the observer can not really tell it has been repaired.
